A Canadian Citizenship card, also known as a Citizenship Certificate, is an official document that can be used as proof of Canadian citizenship. It is also used as a form of personal identification, as it displays your picture, signature, date of birth, height and gender.

Permanent adult residents need to apply for Canadian Citizenship card to obtain approval for Canadian Citizenship. They are required to fill and submit application form for Canadian Citizenship or Adults (CIT 0002). Some supporting documents may also be required with application. The applicants aged between the ages of 18 to 54 are required to appear in a test to obtain Canadian Citizenship Card. This test is designed to assess the knowledge of person about Canada.

Eligibility for Canadian Citizenship Card

In order to apply for a Canadian citizenship card as an adult, applicants must:

Be a minimum of 18 years old

Be able to speak either English or French well enough to carry out an easy conversation

Have permanent residence status in Canada

Possess some knowledge regarding Canada; its history, its land, and the rights and responsibilities of all Canadian citizens.

Be residing in Canada for at least 3 of the 4 years prior to applying for Canadian citizenship.
